The CAT Meow...Meow Drama

Here you go.

I am again writing this blog after a very long gap. This is about the exam called CAT. So all the people who are yet to give the exam this year read the instructions carefully.

My test date was earlier 28 Oct at Delhi. But changed it to 25th at Kolkata so that I could visit my hometown in the mean time. I left for Kolkata on 23rd by SpiceJet. I was travelling by air after a gap of around 11 years. Delhi Aerocity and Metro has made the journey more comfortable now. I checked in at 4 pm even though my flight was at 6 pm. In the mean time I used Facebook waiting for my boarding to start. I took some pics as I stopped by the KFC outlet.

I got my seat right beside the window.(Of course the air hostess was also worth noticing. Her name was Nancy). When the flight took off, the uncle sitting beside me closed his ears as if it would blast off. I couldnt stop myself laughing then. Coming to the journey, I spent the time listening to great music, thanks to my Android.

After landing safely I met my family and it was rejuvenating. The next day I slept like hell and woke up at 3 pm. I got a scolding after that(but who cares). Next day was CAT(I was not scared of it as I had nil preparations). I searched google maps for the directions to the place. The mode of transport was auto+local train+auto and back. And mind you I made the whole journey of 60 kms in just 52 Rs. How cheap is Kolkata. I was supposed to be there by 1:45 pm. I reached there by 1:50.

First instruction to the future CAT takers: Do not even think of stopping before you reach the Institute gate otherwise you will get caught in a pool of people asking for your name, ph no. etc.

I entered the Institute. There were Xtreme security arrangements made for the exam. I was thoroughly checked and my mobile, pen and handkerchief  was sealed in a pouch.

Second instruction: Carry your ID proof i.e. PAN card, Voter ID, Passport etc in original otherwise you will be in trouble.

I was seated in a room where I was the second candidate. A girl was sitting alone before me. Yes she was beautiful. Just as I made some words to talk to her 2 other candidates entered the room and spoiled the party. Finally there were 12 students in that slot. One thing to note here PROMETRIC has made full use of our 1600 Rs. that we paid for the form. All the security guards(6 in no.) wore CAT 2011 uniforms with PROMETRIC logo. There was a Coordinator, 4 Site Supervisors, 4 Proctors and 6 Junior Assistants manning the centre. We entered the biometric test room where our photo was clicked(I look nice without specs) and finger prints were taken. The centre had seating capacity of about 96 people but only 12 were giving the test with 15 people manning the area(Most of them were found sleeping while standing).

Third instruction: No pen, pencil, paper is allowed. They will provide their own pencils and erasers.

The test started with the tutorial which I finished in 3-4 minutes. I started the test earlier than others. Now what I see, I attempted 27 questions in Quant of which about 20 were right I am damn sure. And if I had studied I could have attempted all questions with ease. When I reviewed my answers I removed some tukke waale questions ro make the no of attenpted questions to 25. After that I started the verbal part, in that too I could attempt 27 questions with abut 15-18 correct for sure. In the end I removed tukke waale here also and brought down the number to 24.

Fourth instruction: Don't presume anything about CAT. Kabhi bhi kucch bhi ho sakta hai.

P.S. That girl was sitting just right to me in the test centre. So could not stop looking at her.

Jo hota hai sahi hota hai...

I am back after a gap of 1 month, thanks to the hectic placement season. Today I would like to share my virtual experiences if some events had not taken place.

I stand today at a place with many cool friends to boast of, gained some very useful experiences and also explored my talent. But things would have been different if I had not met this person on 20 December 2008. He impressed and fooled me with his tricks and I wobbled Rs. 1250 after he showed me dreams that I could go to US if I was a member. I kept checking in for the registration card and mails which did not come. In August 2009 I got my room adjacent to the person who was a close associate to the first person. So this was the beginning for what I am today. Thanks to the first one for eating my money.

If I would not have met this person on that day, my life would have been somewhat like this:
  • I would have got more marks as of now.
  • I would be found at almost all the DPs of the college.
  • Maybe you could find me at the GPs also.
  • I may be placed till now.
  • My room would have been the adda.
Anyways....Jo hua sahi hua...

Dusri Nazar(Part Two)

Nazre Milana, Nazre Churana----Everybody knows about that, but this is a different story.

This guy had not checked out more girls as his friends did. But this morning, as he was off to his scheduled work, he could not  find a feeder for metro for almost 10-15 min. He also saw a girl waiting for the feeder to come who was standing far by. One feeder came and this guy and that girl got into it. For half part of the journey, the two were the only passengers. He just gave her a single look and left for the Metro.

This was the first look. Time for the Dusri Nazar. This guy went to grab his seat on the metro. But he sees, the same girl takes a seat beside him leaving one. So he could have a closer look at her. She was pretty. On the complete journey he could not stop checking out her. Maybe she could also have realised......

This is the first part of the story. Drama starts in the next part.
When this guy got down at the interchange station, he sees that she also got down. Now don't know why he started to follow her. She took the longer route to get downstairs and so did he. She stopped over a food corner to take some refreshments. This guy also stopped and pretended like he is busy talking to someone. Till now she should have realized that he was following her. Some eye contact exchanges. After a while he had also to buy something to be with her. But what happens, as he was paying the cashier, she disappeared in the crowd. Now what he could do. Just hope that again in the next metro she catches up with him. But co-incidences happen not so much. All he remembers is her name "Shruti" as he overheard her talking to someone.

End of Part Two!!!

Life In A Metro

Location: Delhi Metro
Time: Any Time

I have been living at Delhi for the past 10 years and 14th July marks my 10th anniversary. I have seen Delhi rise from Level 0 to Level 2 i.e. from road transport to metro.

I am here to share what I experienced traveling in the Metro. One instant I remember is that of a couple who was getting a little bit cozy and having the feel in the air-conditioned compartments. But that was not going to be undisturbed. An aunty from behind....in a commanding voice...."Beta bacche hai yaha pe". Arre aunti ji, bacche ab bade ho gaye hai, ab enjoy nahi karenge to fir kya........

At an another situation, I was standing at the queue at Rajiv Chowk station. I was standing at the front. Suddenly an aged person comes and tells me "Beta zara jaldi hai, aage jaane do". Arre uncle ji, itni jaldi ghar jaake kya karoge, wohi roz-roz ki khit-phit sunni hai kya?

Extreme scenes are created at Kashemere gate and Rajiv Chowk. People are so eager to rush in that they don't even care about the persons who need to get down. The person who is a little late in getting down is rushed back in forcefully by the entering people. Then the person thinks "Bhai agle stop pe hi utar jaonga,".

One fine day my friend was waiting for the metro at his usual position-the first compartment. Suddenly he notices a directive "Keval Mahilao Ke Liye". An announcement is made "Ab hamare liye ek aur dabba kab ho gaya. Pehle dibbe ke 100 bando ko baaki 3 dibbo be bhara jayega, Asuvidha ke liye hume khed hai". Pehle kya kam pareshan the jo ye extra julm kiya ja raha hai.

All the good/bitter experiences encountered in the metro are a part of one's life. So have to life with it. I prefer to travel in the last coach of the metro where there is ample space to get your back on. Also I love traveling at the contact points between the coaches whenever I get a chance. It is the best place to travel.

P.S. The views presented are copywright of mukcute. Any resemblence to living or dead is purely coincidental.

First Impression!!!

Enjoyed each and every moment these three years in college. It has been a long way from when I put my first steps in DCE till today. The most important thing I learnt here is the importance of friends. Prior to this in school I had limited no. of friends. Lets go back a little and let me tell you about the first meeting of all the people that are in the group today.

1. Subhanshu aka Mota: The first day of college. It was raining heavily and I entered the Physics class late. As it was the first day all other students had preoccupied their seats. When I entered the class at 9:20 all seats were full and one extra table was arranged for me and Subhanshu in the front. As the class carried on, I saw him writing nothing on his notebook. I thought about him as if he knows ebverything and is the boss. And the next time I see him is in the senior hostel working hard for Panache. I did not talk to him till then. The main interaction between us was in the 3rd Sem when he said "Plz padha de main paas ho jaonga"

2. Karthik aka Reddy: Had the first impression of him as a very staraight and honest person. First came to know about him when I saw giving him money to the seniors for membership. I thought "Kaisa vella banda hai, seniors k jhaase me phas gya"(After that I also got into the trap). Had next meeting in the 3rd Sem when I was searching for somebody who had got the hostel and would keep my bags. And I got my room which was adjacent to him. I depended on him as only he had the lappy at that time and needed it for my works. And in that semester, we had the best of the times.

3. Anshul aka Ghisshu: First meeting in JCB 123. He travelled to Pitampura with Reddy almost everyday and I got the lappy. Got to know him more when the mid-sems came. As an ECE student he insisted on studying each and every topic for the exams. Thanks to him, I came to the rescue of the EE ppl. I started analyzing the papers and renamed Anshul as "Ghissu".

4. Ajir aka Behari: First meeting in JCB only. He was demonstrating how to use 3ds Max to Anshul, Subhanshu and Reddy. I thought that he was a senior as and did not talk to him. He along with Anshul made soft copies of all the details of IEEE members. I also helped them in the data-entry. In my thoughts Ajir was a person who knows everything and need not attend classes and only came here to collect a Degree.

5. Maggu: He was in my class only in the first sem, but did not see him even once. When his name was called subhanshu made his proxy. I thought why he is making attendences for a non-existant person. First time I saw him lifting benches and tables in the expo hall in the 3rd Sem. IEEE had chosen the right person for the right job(He is frm Mech).

6. Astha aka Mommy: First saw her making certificates for Tech-Week. Aur kuch yaad nhi aata.

7. Rubal: A very different sardar. First saw him playing NFS in JCB. Always had heard from people that if you want music then go to rubals room and y'll get wahatever music you need. Had a great journey in the bus on the eve of TROIKA night out with his jokes and songs.

8. Vaibhav: First instance was seen him fighting with Ajir for a common Tech-Fest. Had facts to back up his points and Ajir had to fight it hard to win. Next knew about his SIG. Hence a complete techie.

9. Saikat: The funniest of them all. First met him at TROIKA night out. Very lively and dedicated to whatever work he does. I was thinking that how could he manage such good marks without studying. Then realised he is in Compu.

10. Shitij: From the first semester we travelled to college in the same bus many a times. A very heavy person boarded the bus at Janakpuri.Came to know about him more in the 3rd Sem when he was in my practicals group. He understands the concept well but has a tendency to sneak in a joke or two in it.

11. Aayushi: The sweetest of them all. Didn't remember the first meeting but rated her as a very lively figure. No tension at all in life. Har pal ko jiyo FULL2.

Stay tuned for more!!!
