Missing the best times:

Today while I was going through the posts on FaceBook, when noticed some senti posts from ny best buddies. For the past few days I was also feeling as such but that post has burst my inner soul. So here I am.

As of now I have just started off with my professional life leaving far behind the days which I will cherish my whole life. Today I got to know what difference a single event in your life can make i.e. "GRADUATION".

Looking back to those times, the best times started in the summer of 2009 when I first met these these two gems of my life.(Though they were in my class for the past one year :P)

Without these two people, my life could have been the fun as it happened. The exam times were the best of the times I enjoyed with them. This was the period when I got some more of my best friends as time went on.

These were the times I relish the most till today. This period had the most awesome seniors to be with. The next two years produced ultimate fun, entertainment and learning. These were the people whom I looked upon in the times of happiness or sadness. Whatever be the environment outside, these people made me feel alive. In the course of time, many others also joined the group.

This video sums up all the feeeeel that we had together.

Not to forget the other characters who were added on in due course.
Vaibhav, Arunima, Uma, Sonal, Twinkle, Sukhmani, Pratibha, Pawan, Kharad, B.D. and the ultimate juniors.

So to the guys who are are yet to complete their graduation, live your life to the fullest. This is the time that you will miss all your life. This is the most care-free time of your life==> "TENSIONLESS".

P.S. Have to cut down the story because it is 2:00 AM and tomorrow is a Monday.
P.P.S If I were in college, life went on without having to bother what time/day is it.

Scribbling Day@DCE

Its 2012 and its May the 3rd. Oh Gosh!!! 4 saal khatam ho gaye.

After the Hostel Nite, had the Scribbling Day. Thanks to MishraJi, we had the event publicized well on FB so that everybody is ready. Preparations the night before-Arrange pure white Tees, Sketch pens etc.

Reached college at 11 am for a viva, but thanks to the class where we started the scribbling day, sir postponed it to 3 pm. So got started the 'silsila' of writing anything and almost anything on each other's T-shirts. Sometimes had to think what to write, but managed it well as always. I signed all my messages with YoYoMishraG.

After the class I moved to Mech C, where I was captured by people. I also directed them to the space where they could write clearly. Nice Photo Session. Bhasad Pics!!! Had a dance and gaana session after the food.

After reading all the messages I came to know 2 things:
1. Main Ek Bakchod Hu and Mera Andaaz mast hai.
2. Koi MishriJi Dila Do.

Some of the Pick Up lines:

IEEE ki Jaan ho tum....2nd yr se ab tak BakC--Ajir

Rassi Mere Haath me hai.....Nahi Dubenge--Pawan

But the best one this one.........

Great enjoyment and feeling a lifetime. Yaad Ayenge Ye Pal!!!

Holi @ DCE Hostel

Holi k din sab khil jaate hai......rangon me rang mil jaate hai.

Had a great time celebrating holi at DCE Campus. Had heard of Holi being celebrated in new techniques over the years, experienced it today.

Started the day around 10 am and greeted everybody "Happy Holi" with gulal. People could be seen in the T-shirts of Yebhi, Innova and TROIKA T-shirts. These entitites could again be seen in the mass again at Holi after the fests. The Bhang stall was set up in the mess. As I was a first timer, got to know from others that you got to have around 6-7 shots to have an effect. I had 4 shots. Though nothing happened but my stomach got full without any reason.

The Bhang!!!
Thanks to our friend chotu who made an arrangement just outside the campus for the celebrations. Had the facilities of fultoo water and gulal. Around 30-40 people made an awesome experience. Water pipes, songs Rain dance and masti. Drenched Mr. Chotu in mud and made the area a mess. Left the area on foot after the enjoyment. But wait something more awaited us.

The Evils!!!
As we entered the campus, we could see shirtless people roaming around in the campus. In no time I saw one friend, who was left behind, coming with torn a T-shirt. In a second I see another one's T-shirt being torn. It was the time when I felt everything has stopped.(Bhang chad gayi). I was just standing at the circle and in a moment I was also attacked. It reminded me of Resident Evil. How helpless could you feel when 15-20 infectious people pounce upon you and leave you to nothing. In no moment I also became one of them. Somehow I got out from there. In the end I was left with a packet with some phones in it. Thank god....I got mine.

Throughout the journey to Hostel, you could not find a single person with T-shirt in one piece. On the road you could find torn pieces of cloth lying around. I also got to see a live attack on a person who was in one-piece. Gosh!!! How terrifying. Got a call from my first friend who got torn that there is something special in the mess. So after some make up, went to mess to see this stuff.

Meri mess in a mess!!! via Umang Sharma
Wah re!!!  The food was so amazing that I ate for about 40 mins. Joking. But 40 mins is not a lie. After the meal, had a bath for about 1 hr and then had a great sleep.

Happy Holi to all.

What IEEE means to me!!!

It has been now more than 2 years that I have been associated with IEEE at Delhi Technological University. And it has been a great learning experience for me.

When I first stepped into the college, I had no professional experience. I was like a blank paper. I first got to know about IEEE when seniors entered our class on the first day itself. As a very conservative person, I thought that "Ye society waghera sab bakwaas hai" and I refrained myself from joining it in the first year. But soon realized that after 1st year, I have gained nothing. In the technical fest, I saw my classmates working hard for TROIKA and simultaneously gaining their knowledge.  Also saw them organize their own event in April.

I joined it in my 2nd year and became active from Repertoire 2009. The after experience is worth talking about.

  • Got my precious friends through IEEE.
  • Enjoyed every part of life and had the feeeel.
  • Got the chance of representing DTU at Section Meets.
  • Had my first trip to Dehradun and Rishikesh.
  • TROIKA Night-Outs and being the member of the team that hung the banner from the topmost part of the college.
  • Xtreme moments with the awesome seniors.
  • Bonding with the juniors.
  • Improved my personality and personality skills.
  • Recognition in college(Of course I am famous).
  • Credits for my placements also goes to IEEE.
  • MishraJi.
Now I am going to witness my last TROIKA. So guys, do not disappoint me. I want to see the best TROIKA I have seen till now.

Placed at OnMobile

Everything has its time. And so was with the case with me. For the past 5 months, I had made TnP my office and resume manager my homepage. But now it is all over. Friday, 13th Jan, 2012 is the date that was awaited. I will now join OnMobile as Software Engineer at Bangalore, where I always wanted to be.

It has been a session full of  each and every emotion. I remember the times when I was debarred from playing binness, cards or going to a night-out just because I had a company next day. And also the times when I had to get prepared for the written test and interviews. Had some extreme moments also in these times. But what I learnt in the mean-time is most important.

Let me share my experience.

One Day Ago:
Another friend of mine got placed and the whole group went on for a night out leaving behind me and Anshul. We had to prepare for the company. We had to study about the profiles of the two firms that were visiting tomorrow.  We goggled for about 3 hrs. After that I had a refreshing cards session with the juniors.

Written Paper 1:
RM showed I had to reach TnP by 0930 hrs sharp. I reached there by 1000 hrs. The written test had 8 questions to be done in 60 minutes. Now see I didn't have a pen to do the test. Got one from a friend and started the test. The marking scheme got me. It was +7,-2. Was in a fix which questions to attempt. But finally I got 3 correct. The results were announced, but my name was not on the list. I was disappointed. But wait, there was second list who have to give a second paper for qualifying to the interviews.

Written Paper 2:
Again borrowed a pen and along with Anshul gave the next paper which had 6 questions to be done in 75 minutes. I did 4 had hoped for a selection. In the mean time gave a 15 min exam for another company.(Thanks that I did not qualify for its GD).

Interview
Results were announced. I qualified for the interviews. Till then 2 offers had already been made. Keeping my fingers crossed. Candidates from 1st round of written were getting offers and we, the 2nd round ones were thinking that "hamara to katta ho gaya". But no, our call also came. We were called in a group of two. We both were given different puzzles to solve. I got one which I had practiced earlier. I explained the solution clearly. Then came some usual questions. I answered all well. In terms of technical, he asked me to draw circuit of staircase winding. I could not draw it perfectly. Then he asked if I was comfortable with C++. I said yes with confidence. Gave me two problems on classes and OOPS. Solved all and got out of the room.

After 5 minutes, I got a call to fill up a form. Again borrowed a pen and completed the procedure. Then proceeded for HR interview, which I cleared with confidence. I confirmed that the place of posting is only and only Bangalore. I was then emotionless as the interviewer told me that I have been selected. After I received my LOI, you all know what happened  next.

I would like to thank my parents and friends who supported me in my difficult times.
Anshul: For partnering me to TnP in every company. And also to Bangalore.
Astha: For being the best friend.
Subhanshu: For keeping my spirits high in lowly times.
Karthik: For "not being there" as people say which got the luck.
Mishra: For being the person with whom I spent most of my times.
Also not leaving out Maggu, Ajir, Vipul, Shitij and my pyaare juniors.

Each event can be associated random things. The day I got placed was Lohri, so people were predicting about it. The day was 13/1/12. 12 +1=13. Friday, the 13th 2012.

I have heard people say these lines when they get placed: "Yaar itni aasani se hogaya". I experienced it today. As I declared in September only: "Jisme hona hota hai, usme kaise bhi ho jaata hai aur jisme nahi hona hota, usme tum chahe g**** ka bhi zor laga lo, kuch nahi hoga". Proved today. Everything has its own time.

The CAT Meow...Meow Drama

Here you go.

I am again writing this blog after a very long gap. This is about the exam called CAT. So all the people who are yet to give the exam this year read the instructions carefully.

My test date was earlier 28 Oct at Delhi. But changed it to 25th at Kolkata so that I could visit my hometown in the mean time. I left for Kolkata on 23rd by SpiceJet. I was travelling by air after a gap of around 11 years. Delhi Aerocity and Metro has made the journey more comfortable now. I checked in at 4 pm even though my flight was at 6 pm. In the mean time I used Facebook waiting for my boarding to start. I took some pics as I stopped by the KFC outlet.

I got my seat right beside the window.(Of course the air hostess was also worth noticing. Her name was Nancy). When the flight took off, the uncle sitting beside me closed his ears as if it would blast off. I couldnt stop myself laughing then. Coming to the journey, I spent the time listening to great music, thanks to my Android.

After landing safely I met my family and it was rejuvenating. The next day I slept like hell and woke up at 3 pm. I got a scolding after that(but who cares). Next day was CAT(I was not scared of it as I had nil preparations). I searched google maps for the directions to the place. The mode of transport was auto+local train+auto and back. And mind you I made the whole journey of 60 kms in just 52 Rs. How cheap is Kolkata. I was supposed to be there by 1:45 pm. I reached there by 1:50.

First instruction to the future CAT takers: Do not even think of stopping before you reach the Institute gate otherwise you will get caught in a pool of people asking for your name, ph no. etc.

I entered the Institute. There were Xtreme security arrangements made for the exam. I was thoroughly checked and my mobile, pen and handkerchief  was sealed in a pouch.

Second instruction: Carry your ID proof i.e. PAN card, Voter ID, Passport etc in original otherwise you will be in trouble.

I was seated in a room where I was the second candidate. A girl was sitting alone before me. Yes she was beautiful. Just as I made some words to talk to her 2 other candidates entered the room and spoiled the party. Finally there were 12 students in that slot. One thing to note here PROMETRIC has made full use of our 1600 Rs. that we paid for the form. All the security guards(6 in no.) wore CAT 2011 uniforms with PROMETRIC logo. There was a Coordinator, 4 Site Supervisors, 4 Proctors and 6 Junior Assistants manning the centre. We entered the biometric test room where our photo was clicked(I look nice without specs) and finger prints were taken. The centre had seating capacity of about 96 people but only 12 were giving the test with 15 people manning the area(Most of them were found sleeping while standing).

Third instruction: No pen, pencil, paper is allowed. They will provide their own pencils and erasers.

The test started with the tutorial which I finished in 3-4 minutes. I started the test earlier than others. Now what I see, I attempted 27 questions in Quant of which about 20 were right I am damn sure. And if I had studied I could have attempted all questions with ease. When I reviewed my answers I removed some tukke waale questions ro make the no of attenpted questions to 25. After that I started the verbal part, in that too I could attempt 27 questions with abut 15-18 correct for sure. In the end I removed tukke waale here also and brought down the number to 24.

Fourth instruction: Don't presume anything about CAT. Kabhi bhi kucch bhi ho sakta hai.

P.S. That girl was sitting just right to me in the test centre. So could not stop looking at her.

Jo hota hai sahi hota hai...

I am back after a gap of 1 month, thanks to the hectic placement season. Today I would like to share my virtual experiences if some events had not taken place.

I stand today at a place with many cool friends to boast of, gained some very useful experiences and also explored my talent. But things would have been different if I had not met this person on 20 December 2008. He impressed and fooled me with his tricks and I wobbled Rs. 1250 after he showed me dreams that I could go to US if I was a member. I kept checking in for the registration card and mails which did not come. In August 2009 I got my room adjacent to the person who was a close associate to the first person. So this was the beginning for what I am today. Thanks to the first one for eating my money.

If I would not have met this person on that day, my life would have been somewhat like this:
  • I would have got more marks as of now.
  • I would be found at almost all the DPs of the college.
  • Maybe you could find me at the GPs also.
  • I may be placed till now.
  • My room would have been the adda.
Anyways....Jo hua sahi hua...
